Smash It Sports Inc. and its three affiliate companies, based in Rochester, NY is one of the largest baseball and softball sporting goods retailers in the US and Canada. We are looking for a self-motivated accountant to join our company. In this role, you’ll play an important part in our company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounting and compliance with the law.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable for multiple companies

· Reconciling cash, bank accounts and revenues for multiple companies

· Maintaining an accurate general ledger, make adjustments as required for multiple companies

· Creating journal entries for all accounts, including fixed assets for multiple companies

· Processing inter-company transactions of payroll, services, accounts payable & receivables as required

· Monitoring the business' cash flow for multiple companies

· Preparing tax returns and monthly and quarterly financial statements for multiple companies

· Remitting payroll, income, sales and use taxes for US and Canada

· Processing employees' timesheets for multiple companies

· Collecting information for auditing purposes

Skills and Qualifications

• Initiating and managing financial and accounting software used by the company

• Experience with accounting software and data entry including QuickBooks, NetSuite, Shopify and PayPal

• Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Advanced knowledge and experience with spreadsheets

• Ability to work independently

• Analytical skills

Accountant education and training

The accountant position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or any other related field. A CPA certification and relevant experience in a managerial position is an added advantage.

Accountant experience requirements

A successful candidate must have experience with accounting and financial software and be up to date with current trends. Expert-level knowledge of working with spreadsheets, and software including QuickBooks, NetSuite, Shopify, and PayPal software. Work experience with general ledger functions is required.

Accountant salary expectations

Accountant starting salary of $65,000 per year plus other benefits including Health Insurance. The salary may depend on experience and education.
